In prematch warmups, I really thought NT had come to play and we were in trouble. They were jumping all over the map. 3v started on D, and we held cap 1 fairly well, but NT capped 2 fast with a sweet jump across the corn from the upper ledge. I was one of two engies for us, so I dropped back to 3, and we got our guns set up well, minutes went by, dealing with enemies from front and back... the flag staying in the long turn, getting returned... and I was like wow we're holding great! Then I looked at teams and saw 7 NT's =(
So Darkness is like, "You guys wouldnt want to go 7v7 now, would you?" And we're discussing amongst ourselves, so who's gonna leave? But the action was so fierce that everyone was like, no I need to stay cuz I'm stopping them from doing this or I'm watching this, etc. And the round is like half over by this time, so we just decided to finish out the round and then go 7v7 for round 2. I don't know if anyone would view this decision as controversial, but we had every right to continue with 8 and no obligation to go to 7 for round 2. So, then we started on offense for round 2, and beat them 7v7 just as well.
Overall, I'd say our solly play was very good on both O and D, our engys did well working together on 3, and that's where our best holds were. Comparing this match to the first 3v - NT meeting on cornfield, I'd say we did a far better job of dealing with their pushing-forward players and didnt let them get behind our front and disrupt us the way they did the first time, and on D, we did well on the flag, and did a good job setting up our CP3 defense. The two areas where they crushed us the first time were solly play and use of the shotgun. I'd say that both those areas were much closer this time.

I think I did a good enough job of keeping my mouth shut until now, but since you brought up the 'every right to continue with 8 and no obligation to go to 7 for round 2' - I'd just like to point out that Rear and I agreed to play 7v7 before round 1 started. Someone in NT that was *not* me, Dospac I believe, said to switch to 8v8 because we had an 8th coming in, and you agreed and kept your 8th, despite the fact that our 8th never even made it into the server. I chose not to say anything because at the end of prematch, I did think that we had an 8th coming, but considering that *I* - being the only contact for NT, had nothing to do with the changing back to 8, you really only had a right to have 7 people in the server after we agreed to it.
I also never complained to anyone in 3v, except Rear in private after the match was over - that one of the 7 we did have in the server for rnd 1 was frozen for half the match when his connection kept locking up, so you basically beat us 8v6 - congratulations.
For round 2 we had to drop the guy that was frozen for half of rnd 1, obviously, and wound up bringing in a 7th who hadn't even seen the map yet, and then you guys did beat us far and square - starting on offense first, which has the advantage of scoring higher in most evenly-matched avanti-style games. I saw that 3v was playing very hard, in both rounds, which is why I did my best not to tarnish your victory, but if you want to tell the story - get it right.

okay, so people didn't get the story right when 'breaks didn't go your way' - but did they go around claiming that it was some great and wonderful victory where both teams were at their best?
Your comments in your writeup specifically say that you needed all EIGHT of your guys to stop our 6-7, and yet you're proud of yourselves for winning like that, shrug.
I can live with getting ripped off, but don't try and rub my nose in it.

i never claimed it was a wonderful victory, just like i didn't claim we were "ripped off" when we lost to LEET a man short, for example. you were the one who went out of your way to mention it in the news and take credit away from us, whether you intended to or not.
also i didnt know one of your members was frozen for round 1, im sorry to hear that, but as for your account of round 2, i don't care who didnt know the map or bla bla. guess what, DG hates cornfield, didnt practice a minute with us, lunar didnt show to play engy so i had to show him the SG spots 10 mins before match time. this happens to every team, all the time. you had 7 active players for round 2. so did we.
see, the sportsmanlike way to handle this would be to say something like, "NT screwed up and we couldnt field a full team. GG to 3v and we'll try to give you a real battle next time." instead you have to say you were "ripped off." well, the only ones who ripped you off were your teammates, and the fact is that when we had an equal number of players, we won.
im sorry if i contributed to this becoming a flamewar. my only point is that no one gives credit for good intentions or bad breaks. we certainly have never received such. you lost.

damn i wasnt even trying to piss anyone off, i just did a writeup from my perspective, since dark had expressed his. i argued my point when dark unloaded on me, and i called a halt to my clan's flames. i think i've behaved respectably.
i want to make it clear i like dark and think he does a great job for our league. when i said he was biased, i was trying to make the point that everyone is, including me. i truly am sorry that dark took my remarks personally.
find me one team or clan that is "respectable" enough that every single one of its members will stay away from participating in a flamewar. i've seen just about every clan i know of in the ADL participate in one. so two of my guys got loose, and then we told them to stop. simple.
