RA over ELB

OMG, what a match.

Tonight we faced off against ELB on 2mesa3. Both of us were undefeated, and to be quite frank, I thought we would walk away with an easy win. Well, I was wrong (like I always am).

Rd1-[DR]FloppyDonkeyDick

Well, both of us use recongamer servers, so I had to scrounge up a server at the last minute. It had an old tfl.cfg on it, but ELB agreed to play on it anyway. Round starts, scout rushes get owned, and both clans go to work. ELB had a very nice D setup that stopped all spy work for the most part, so RA's O was shut down for most of the round. Anyway, ELB's O was on fire for most of the round, getting key touches at key moments. They cap first with a nice series of touches, and then do a carbon copy of the first to go up 2-0 pretty early in the round. I somehow got a gren up to the flag and RA pulled out a cap of our own. Then ELB shut us down for what it seems like an eternity. Meanwhile, their O kept at it, and capped again, bring ELB up 3-1 over RA. It remained quiet for the last of the round until RA started getting some lucky touches. The first toss down returned, then the second we slowly pulled out to bring it to 3-2. As we capped, ELB got a pull with only 2 minutes left in the round. However, we were able to hold the flag at their cap point while the round ended. If ELB had 10 more seconds they could have easily went up 4-2.

Round 2-[DR]FloppyDonkeyDick

Our servers were still down, so we went with the floppy again. RA was down by one so we needed to cap more than the last round. Anyway, round starts, scout rushes die, both offenses go to work once more. During the first ten minutes, both offenses were getting simultaneous pulls. RA would cap, then ELB would answer. At the 15 minute mark, the score was 2-2. RA finally started getting some really good touches at this point, and we were able to pull out two pretty quick ones, bringing us ahead by 1 in the whole match. However, ELB wouldn't go down that easily, and took action. They touched and touched, and eventually pulled out a cap. At about the time they were going to cap, RA's offense got a throw down to the pit, and started working with just 5 minutes left in the round. The flag made it quickly to the front door, however ELB wouldn't let it go that easily. They started piping it, put a gun up inside the front door, and had a fatty and two soldier out front. Their O would throw an occasional conc/pill at the flag to keep it where it was. RA was pretty stupid, leaving an O guy back in the FR to get a relay, so the flag came out VERY slowly. Finally RA gets a throw to yard, then another throw to the middle bridge. The flag was sitting on the VERY EDGE of that bridge. If a med grabbed the flag, and was shot by a rocket, there would surely have been a pitted flag. Anyway, kl makes a nice run from behind and get's a gren jump up to the point with just one minute left in the round. All was quiet for this last minute, and the round ends 5-3 in favor of RA.
