/tmp Vs. Adrenaline Rush [AR]

Wednesday December 1 1999
6:00 PM PST

Bases_r(STA), Well, CZ2

Pretty straightforward match.

The first map was to be played on one of /Tmp's ongoing attempts at an adequate server. Fast machine, T1, but mysterious packet loss, argggh. Pings seemed fairly equal on AR's machine so we agreed to play there.

Bases-R

We took our time getting set up and then started laying into the AR defense, wearing it down a little at a time. Gradually we made some holes, moved the flag, capped. Regroup, rinse, repeat. Our reported that AR caused them some headaches when they got in, but didn't come in that much on the whole. There were two or three touches, but our D always reformed quickly and the flag never left the base.

Final score: /tmp 50, [AR] 0

Well

[AR] got a pretty fast start here, blowing our grate and flinging a scout at the flag before our D got set up. However, /tmp/Wrench made the scene in time to harsh the scouts mellow and the flag went back, where it stayed for quite a while. Meanwhile on O, someone forgot to blow [AR]'s grate... (*whistling, averting eyes*) but this was soon rectified by some sharp-eyed /Tmp and process of wear, move, cap began again. Towards the end [AR] began displaying some frustration, more and more [AR] O began assaulting /Tmp O in no-mans land, following them around and generally acting like angry hornets (albeit gentlemanly hornets). Eventually [AR] all but left their base en masse, a single (yet very efficient, ouch) sniper holding off our two remaining attackers for the last few minutes of the map, as the rest of our O got pulled back to deal with the hordes of [AR] attackers now swarming our base. However, the damage was already done, our D held and there were no [AR] caps.

Final score: /tmp 60, [AR] 0

Our thanks to [AR] for a good clean match with lots of good action.
