NeX over tHoL

OK, I wanna give a HUGE GFG to the guys at tHoL! These were very nice, mannered, clean, and SKILLED players and I speak for all of NeX when I say I'm proud to have had the privelage to play these guys in the TFL playoffs here tonight. That being said, let's get down to business

Because our head server guy, Chimp, was away (guess he thinks hockey is more important than his NeX brethren) we played both rounds on tHoL's excelent server.

Round 1 started, essentially, on time with all TWENTY players jam-packed into the server. NeX tensions were high, so we had a nice pre-match frag-fest to get us pumped and ready. We practiced extensivly on this map, and we were hoping it wasn't all for not.
PreMatch ended and we got things off without a hitch (we've actually figured out its a good idea to NOT telefrag half the team in the beginning. Go figure). With out D in place, we offense of Drewy, P3Z, FireBlazed and Monday took off and caught them off guard with the first cap of the match. The map being epicenter, each flag run is a race against the D. }tHoL{ was very aware of the subtle neuances involved, and they had a very devious system (namely a VILE O demo) of picking us apart. They capped shortly thereafter.
This see-saw match continued for the whole round, basically. Though out O was hot, our D began to crumble under the pressure. It was very intense. In the last minutes of play, our O player of the match Drewy picked up his SEVENTH CAPTURE! Drewy made every single NeX capture round 1. But, as he said in IRC a scout is only as good as the players around him. Either way, our D stuck it out just a little bit longer and went to IRC durring intermission very proud.

round 1 score:
NeX - 70
}tHoL{ - 60

For round two, we made a few little line changes to accomidate the players we had to sit for round one. Of course, it was all good though. A slightly new O lineup was all we really did. We were all ready to go durring PreMatch, espeically with out beloved Omega Man singing Born To Be Wild just before we began.
Our O wasn't as sharp as they were at round one's beginning, so we ended up falling behind right out of the gates. We pulled back, but we quickly saw that this round would be driven by }tHoL{. To be perfectly honest, we were more than a little worried that things were gonna get hairy.
I believe it was around 60-50 NeX when they nailed two caps back-to-back. With them up by a cap, the end drawing to a close, and a VERY good scout conc that nailed those two caps, we were in trouble. We knew that we couldn't afford to let this match slide into OT. So, my lovely buddy Omega was watching the second time and discovered the secret to their devestating weapon. If we didn't catch where the scout was coming from, they would have won the match. No question in my mind. But, we DID find them and we managed to hold them down. Along with the four star HW'ing of our big D man tonight, Barol, the defense was able to keep them pinned at 70 while our O used this chance to push twice more and win us the match. One of the most intense TFC matches of my life.

round 2 score
NeX - 80
}tHoL{ - 70

Final Score

NeX - 150
}tHoL{ - 130

GG }tHoL{

Again, we all had a great time. Monsterously fun, and we hope to see you guys again soon.
