Misdirected Hostility vs Omnipotence
Dateline Splooge X: The air on this earthlike planet was barely hospitable to the opposing factions, meeting late this evening to discuss a plan for peaceful coexistence. The rivaling clans were in a bitter dispute over who should control the planet's solar array belt, a vast and complex power source built by the ancient pre-DarkOmen peoples who called themselves the Jello Shooters. Its technology held the key to infinitely renewable energy, provided it was owned and operated in the right hands. It could generate a googlewatts of electrical power, supply fuel for intergalactic travel, and change the weather and the conditions of neighboring planetary systems, among other godlike uses. Since its inception, control of the solar array belt was a concern to the people of Splooge X. Centuries later, 2 main superpowers on opposite ends of the belt held various control modules of the solar array system. The north side, called themselves Feindseligkeit Misdirected, and the south called themselves Omnipotence. Each side knew of the other's capability create chaos on their side of the hemisphere. The Feindseligkeit and Omnipotence leaders decided it was time to do something about the matter.
They met in an ancient temple built of masonry and tile, a primitive material before the advent of BSP wall building technology. Two identical sides of the makeshift council, each with its own waterways, balconies, spiraling staircases and chambers, connected together with stone bridges in an serene outdoor yard, complete with canyons and skinny dipping lakes. The two sides arrived in the afternoon by trains to the neutral area, and talks began.
Things began to feel a bit surreal, as the leaders gradually grew wary of the other's words. It seemed inevitable at this point, that no one would leave until a compromise was met. Coincidently, the subordinate leaders, who were waiting in their stone masonry buildings, found out about the presence of solar array control keys at the bottom of both structures. Diplomacy was broken off shortly, and the mH and (!) entourages met at their respective quarters to hear of the finding.
It was agreed before the meeting that were would be no show of hostile intent, including military presence of any kind. Both clans honored the pact. However, while each side was pondering a response, at least 2 hidden rooms in each building were found, and in it were stashes of infantry small arms and explosives, presumably left behind by the BlackSun construction workers centuries ago. It was now clear now, that a tempest was brewing.
No later than 5 minutes after this discovery, an assault mounted. Each clan wanted the other control key at the bottom of their spiral staircase atriums, and nothing was to stop them. The initial rush came quick but to no avail. Lightly armed with pneumatically driven nailguns, they were slaughtered by the minuteman force of minigunners and rocketeers. Large stashes of grenades also pummeled the invading sides with an onslaught of explosive force. Men with shotguns and 1-use acceleration devices plowed through the buildings, trying desperately to reach the control key devices that held the destiny and survival of their respective clans.
The battle raged on for 30 brutal minutes, but Feindseligkeit Misdirected managed to steal a control device for the solar array to convert light energy into sugar, spice, and everything nice. Omnipotence failed to retrieve anything from the mH base. Casualities were high, especially in the once-beautiful waterways that flowed to the yard bridge. It became a bloody mess. As bodies were being counted, Omnipotence sought revenge. The gathered any last remaining weapons and in an act of desperation, envoked a second round of planetary struggle. But alas, nothing seemed to work out. mH drove the remaining Omnipotence entourage from their stronghold, recovering 9 more glowing control keys, plus a bunch of other stuff. With the 85 newly acquired artifacts, mH began work on completing infinitely renewable energy. With all powers combined, the planet was all mH's.
It's such a good feeling to know you're alive.
It's such a happy feeling: You're flag is inside.
And when you wake up ready to say,
I think I'll make a cap and relay.
- Mr. Rogers tribute.
