Writeup:

DT over tM

Title Defense: DT vs tM

Wow, another great game! Looking at last week's scores, tM's were similar to ours. I was very worried that this would be much closer than it turned out to be. We swore an oath to not lose a match in Bronze, and move into Silver without a loss when we first joined Bronze. We were worried that tM might upset our plans for Bronze domination, and would take away our shiny new title.

Round 1:
We started off much like we had expected, going cap to cap, and for a while, tM actually took the lead a couple of times. But somewhere in the middle of the round we seemed to pull ahead. Just a couple of caps, but it seemed to be enough. Tortured Minds started to stumble. They couldn't keep up the scoring, and the further we progressed, the slower they capped. Although we had nearly twice as many caps as tM at the end of the round, it doesn't tell the truth ? that for the majority of the round, it appeared that the match would be a close one!
Scoring: DT ? 180, tM ? 100

Round 2:
It seems that two things happened between round 1, and round 2. First, everything fell into place for DT, and second, everything fell apart for tM. I stopped watching the scoring report at 60-10 because I knew it was going to be a massacre. Unlike last week where Unforeseen and Auto put on a scoring demonstration, tonight's offensive effort seems to have been equally distributed between all of the offensive members, and that everyone took turns capping. Tortured Minds seems to have made a strong push in the middle of Round 2, but it wasn't enough to stop the onslaught.
Scoring: DT ? 230, tM ? 90

Final Thoughts:
For the second week on Torch2, we played a clan who claims that their loss was the result of lack of practice on said map. What bothers me is this claim was made after two title matches ? matches where you would expect the opposing team to practice in order to win the title. For them to not practice seems to make a strong statement about the map we played on. Perhaps it is time to retire Torch2 from the STA. Very few clans enjoy playing on the map, and several have demonstrated an attitude of contempt and hatred of the map, as these past two weeks have shown. Title matches should be intensely competitive matches between two extremely hungry clans who desperately want the title. Instead we have found ourselves playing two clans who were happy to win, but were not aggressive enough ? who weren't hungry enough ? for the title, to dedicate everything to winning the title. And I think the map may be to blame for this attitude. (we never faced this attitude in Copper)
