Dodge This over No Holds Barred
Wow, you know you are in the community when you face clans who run leagues (KoB a few weeks ago) and run TFC community websites like KSE (clan NHB tonight). We had never faced NHB before, so we didn't know what to expect. They were on a 2 game winning streak, and even though we won last week in STA, we followed it up with a staggering loss in TFL to the bucketheads on a very important match that would have put us in the 2A finals. We know we have the talent, but after listening to the GBC broadcast of the TFL match, we decided to make some changes.
ROUND 1:
Mulch Trench has always been a great map for us, even when we were back in H-18. Many of our setups for this map have predated DT itself, so it was only natural that we would bring our A game. But DT has never been short of talent ? on the contrary, DT often finds itself lacking in our offensive coordination. With smaller maps, like trench, O coordination is often times not needed. After all, if you die, you can get back to the enemy base in no time at all. Our O didn't seem to have a problem with this, but NHB's offense seemed to be lacking. Perhaps it was our D setup perfected over many matches, practice, and scrimmages that kept them from the flag in this highly offensive game.
Score: DT ? 130, NHB ? 50
ROUND 2:
It is always hard to judge a player by their score, after all, even though someone might not have a high score, they might have been doing all the right things to allow others to rake in the high scores. But we replaced J for Bobo, and went at it again, this time on our server. Although our O scored less, theirs was held to an amazing 2 caps the entire round. NHB utilized a yard HW to help stem the flow of flags out of their base. I can't imagine how impotent a yard HW would feel on a map like that, having so many O conc over him, and concing him. Last time we played this map in TFL was against KEA, and their yard HW left in the middle of the second round in frustration. Playing with a yard HW is similar to playing with 4 defenders. It is no wonder the scores were so lopsided.
Score: DT ? 120, NHB ? 20
FINAL: DT ? 250, NHB ? 70
Closing Thoughts:
Good job NHB, that was a massacre. But it shows your true colors. Anyone can be a gracious clan when they win, but it is those who keep their cool when everything around them is falling apart that show their real sportsmanship. Good Game NHB, and may you have much better matches in the future! For DT, the real test is playing on a larger, more defensive map where O coordination is imperative. Only then will we know if the changes we made will be enough, or if we haven't gone far enough.

Their D may not have lugged off our flag as many times as they wanted to but they DID succeed in one very important endeavor---They were MAJOR pain in the asses that kept coming & coming and made me work my ass off trying to get & keep a damn SG up. Holy shit I musta lost about 5 pounds just in sweat ;) GG [NHB] I hope we meet again.

I cried the whole way through both rounds because some really stupid person who works for SBC cut the line that provides my dsl, so i spent the whole matching watching from hltv on a dial-up. GG DT. I can't wait until next time.
