AFM over tHoL

We finished off a great season tonight versus tHoL in the 2a Championships.

Round1: After an intial slow start, the AFM offense started to take over the round, capping 19 times, while tHoL managed to pull out three against a stingy AFM defense.

Round2: The AFM offense went right back to work, but this time tHoL elected to use an engy and three soldiers. Still, the offense pounded out 14 caps, while the defense, once again was very solid, letting out only one cap.

I really can't remember the last time AFM played so solid or determined. I guess, for many of us, it may be the last time we play for a long time. Some have lost interest in the game, while others are going back to school, while still others have elected to finally succumb to real life obligations. It was one hell of a ride this season, and many of us knew, that this may be our final campaign together, not just as TFC players, but as teamates. Yet I believe, that the memories and friendships we have forged over the last three years will remain a fairly big part of our lives, wherever our individual paths lead us.

No, this isn't neccessarily a clan retirement post, but it is probably the closest thing to one that there is. When those stragglers that are left decide to finally hang up their rpgs and shottys, we will probably look back on this season as our last true campaign, and everything after tonight, as the last stand of a few internet gamers, who against all common sense, decided to keep stumbling around in the ramp room of TFC, who, in a last ditch effort, tried to squeeze a few more matches out of bloodshot eyes and pain ridden hands.

As for this TFL season, I would like to thank all the people we've played. I know a few clans probably don't care all that much for us or our tactics, but we loved every second of the rivalries we created in servers, forums, and on irc. I guess we have a funny way of showing respect, but in our own way, we both hated and loved our opponents and the matches we had. Thanks especially to tmp, GoW, and tHoL, which historically have been some of our most intense rivalries, and this season was no different.

I would also like to thank the Team Fortress League and all the individual admins. Your tireless and unselfish perseverance has helped create something very special.

Finally, I would like to thank all the members of AFM. Not for winning clan matches or the 2a Championship, although that is certainly important, but more for being the great individual people you are. Thank you for the countless hours and dedication you bled into this clan so that it could succeed. Thank you for your sacrifices, but most of all, thank you for your friendship.

God's grace and mercy on us all.
