nLv over -nZ

Tonight was our first time playing nZ, and almost as significant, it was our first time playing canalzone as well. We kept telling ourselves all week Ok guys, we need to actually learn this map. Staying true to the nLv spirit, we all showed up at about 7:00 EST tonight saying where am I playing, link me to the map, who are we playing, wtf is this 'nlv' shit? After much yelling and groping, nokio explained his stellar strat to us, and low and behold... most of us even understood it!

We spent a short while learning the ropes of the map and then got bored and played some congestus. :)

Rd1 Rolls around. Fearing the normally horrific nLv server, we opted to play in nZ's server rd1. Turns out that I'm the only person among 20 that liked theirs :P Rd1 was absolutely cap for cap, for a LONG time. I mean... literally. It was quite a sight. Finally nZ took advantage of being Blue rd1 and took a 10-15 point lead after a while. Fearing the worst, we panicked! Amazingly, we pulled our heads out of eachothers' asses and started playing some TFC. Rd1 I was mostly riding elevators, so I can't say I saw much of what else that was going on, but we made a comeback and closed the gap to 2 points. Very awesome rd1, and we were really hoping that the Blue advantage would kick in for us rd2.

For the first time in god knows how long, we came back to IRC crying about the OTHER team's server! We begged and cried and pleaded with nZ to switch over to hours and they were happy to oblige. Metallix has to leave at the last second, so we bring in Dasyati - after he takes 500 minutes to download the map. We then take a short while running Das through the map, but something tells me the info went in one ear and out the other. Anyways, hoping for the best and always having our fingers crossed, Rd1 gets started!

The blue advantage kicks in right away, and before we know it, it's 16-8, nLv, and the gap is growing. We hold CP 3 for what seems like ages before they start coming after it. nLv's runners seem to be just about everywhere, keeping the majority of CPs in our possession. I'll also add that nZ had about 300 crowbars on our stupid scout runners, but that's the price we pay :) The round continues, with nZ occasionally building some momentum and closing the gap, but nLv fires right back and bridges it out even more. I have never played canalzon before, but now I know why they say that the blue side is easier :)

I generally don't like command point maps except for the fact that it's something to break the monotony of the standard whored CTF maps. This map was no exception, but it was a nice change of pace, and it's great to see your entire team working together instead of in separate squads.

I'd like to thank nZ for being very generous hosts rd1 and allowing us extra time to get our stupid sex kitten Ken into the server (btw, he's stupid). Also thanks for a clean and fun match. No doubt we'll run into you guys again, hopefully next time on a diff kind of map :)
