nLv over BD

Where to begin, where to begin!

Tonight nLv celebrated it's 200th recorded TFC 9v9 match! [BD] were awesome hosts and very fun to celebrate our 200th with.

With about 40 minutes to match time, we started realizing that neither of us were going to have an easy time coming up with the 10 players for canalzone, so after much brainstorming and deliberation, we finally settled on Trench and the festivities began!

Round 1
-------
nLv starts off fast, but has it's first rush stopped in it's tracks. Going with our previous trend, we ran our typical trench Offense... basically just throwing grenades around corners, hoping to hit some [BD] defense. The nLv O keeps on hitting hard, pulling out a few caps. [BD]'s Defense catches on to our O teleporter very quickly and puts a quick end to that idea. The remainder of the round sees us running 4 Meds.

Soon enough, we had gained a hefty lead, forcing what looked like a few change-ups in the [BD] defense. A few things they did worked, while a few things didn't. The nLv O kept finding ways around their SG and demoman, poking holes here and there, and taking flags.

Meanwhile, [BD] is hard at work against the nLv D. They hadn't pulled one out, but they'd gotten their fair share of touches. Eventually they ran a sniper to combat our HW, and the standoff got intense! He was a very polite sniper, never shooting the nLv O, and we appreciated it immensely :)

[BD]'s restructured D just doesn't seem to be working against the nLv Offense, as we continue to pull out caps. With a minute or so left in the round, nLv pulls out the 20th flag, giving us an ironic and appropriate 200 points for rd1. Round 1 ends with our 21st about 20 feet from the cap. Thank God I can't conc, or I might have killed the symbolism!

A fun and clean and generally enjoyable rd1 comes to a close.

Round 2
-------
We head back into IRC where Don points out that we had 200 points for rd1 of our 200th match. This alone gave us a few ideas. We pondered not trying to cap rd2, to keep the 200, or trying to double up, symbolising Hope we can have 200 more! We go with option B, because otherwise it wouldn't have been any fun.

We make a few changes and switch some guys on O and D around, then pile into [BD]'s server. A few restarts later, Rd2 gets underway.

Thinking there's no way in hell we're going to get the 200 again, I lose all faith in humanity and continue my violent TK's from rd1. The rest of our O tires of my nonsense and eventually TK's me back. With me put in my place, the round continues onward, and very much similar to Rd1.

Not too far into the round though, [BD] pulls out a hard-fought flag and brings it home, killing the shutout, but not our spirits! nLv retalliates with a flurry of caps and relays, pushing us to around 150 with about 7 or 8 minutes left. [BD] then also retalliates, pulling out yet another one. Flaming ensues, and we make sure our D knows that we don't like them :) nLv gets a second wind and pulls out a quick series of relays, hitting the 200 mark with about 4 minutes to spare! [BD] holds out for the remainder, and even pulls out a 3rd. Alas, the day was ours, and we rejoiced.

Final
------
Couldn't have asked for a cleaner game. [BD] were really cool to celebrate this with, and a hearty GG to all of them for being good sports and playing clean and fun.
