Writeup:
nLv over dR
Aside from our always intense run-ins with BoA, tonight's match against dR would prove to be one of our most dreaded and intense games in recent memory. There was all kinds of internet buzz regarding which "sandbagger" would prevail, and I think most were siding for dR. nLv, however, has had the same roster for quite some time now... calling us sandbaggers is more humorous than anything because anyone we've played and anyone who's played with us will tell you that that's not the case :]
dR came at us with a very intimidating roster but (as several of their members have stated elsewhere) good intentions (e.g. not sandbagging).
Anyways, enough on that boring nonsense. Down to the good stuff!
Round 1 - nLv: blue, dR: red
-----------------------------
dR takes the tougher side first. After a long time waiting for both teams to get their 9th into the server to restart, we finally get started. Sid (as usual) ends up killing himself trying to take our upper wall down, and it takes us a bit longer.
We hit their base pretty strong and on either or first or second run we pull a flag, however I believe dR makes the first cap, while we spend the better half of 90 seconds trying to find the elusive capture point. As it turns out, it's the wrong version fo the map, but as it was already 9:55 or so, we didn't really have time to get them to upload the correct version and start things over, so we kept things going.
There was great doubt in our minds that we'd be able to hold these guys off without the benefit of the extra capture point... but amazingly, after all these years, we are still capable of surprising ourselves. Fury, funk and met do most of the work while I typically squat around waiting for everything to be clear. It seems like we were pulling a whole ton of flags, but dR just didnt' want to give them up.
A good number of them returned on us, but where we fell short on our persistence, we made up for it in coast-to-coasts. All of us pulled 1 or 2 against the dR Defense.
The entire round dR is breathing down our necks, bringing the scores to within 3 caps, and forcing us to look fearfully towards the potential rd2 onslaught.
About halfway through Sub (or maybe it was Whore? I forget) drops and after capping, I get called back to fill in for him as D sol. Sadly, I don't have my mic plugged in yet, and don't really have time to do so. Amazingly, while I'm filling in on the spot, we don't let up any flags.
Sub/Whore rejoins and in the transition of me going back to offense, dR sneaks one out. They cap it and the scores are pretty close.
nLv pulls another one in the last minute or so to give us a LITTLE breathing room. 5 caps isn't much to cushion oneself with when it comes to Darkness.
Still, against 6 D (including O engy's SG) and 4 O, we're able to hold them off somewhat respectably.
Rd1 Offense: me, metallix, fury, funk
Rd1 Defense: sid, whore, sponge, sub, sin
Rd1 Score: 9-4 nLv!
Round 2 - nLv: red, dR: blue
----------------------------
As I said, we came to IRC a little terrified that now we had to defend red against these guys. We debated what we should do.
a.) Up our Defense and hope they don't pull enough out, while sacrificing one of our O
b.) Keep things the same and risk complete rape
c.) Forfeit and gangbang
It seemd like option A was the best although there were those among us who were really going for option C *cough* funk *cough*
I volunteer to take the swing engineer spot if for no other reason, then to be able to finally write knowledgeably about the nLv defense in one of my writeups! Everything else is left the same for the most part.
We head back into their server, where for some ungodly reason, our Offense is still confused as to why there's no capture point on our battlements, lol. Once that confusion is settled, we bolt down our rocking chairs and prepare for the rush.
sin and I get set up quick with our dual baby killers up and rotating merilly away.
There was much verbal reprimanding from sponge and whore in regards to not throwing EMPs in rd2. I made it a point to slip a few in there anyways though.
Again, we get started and I believe dR pulls the first one out. nLv follows with a quick rebuttal and we're tied up. Neck and neck. 1 to 1. Equal. Tied (shit, already used that one... someone find me a thesaurus).
dR does a pretty good job of getting our D down at the beginning until we change things up a bit. Sin and I start roaming the halls for the guys that get by sid. Since I suck, I basically just stand in the doorways and make sure they don't conc past me while sponge spams and eventually kills both of us.
dR ends up finding our weak spot and sneaking in up top through the halls and concing the flag straight out. They pull 2 of those off before we catch on. They almost pull a few more but sub and whore are right on top of things and stop them dead in their tracks after concing to our ledge from the flag post.
I end up deciding that a dispenser might be a good idea. I put one up, forgetting that I don't have a detdispenser bind and it basically does nothing but sit there and look pretty. Enter EMP spam 1. I get bored and think "If I toss an EMP up to that hallway and get someone, I can brag about it to everyone!" So I prime it and get ready to toss it. Then some douchebag medic comes in and kills me, leaving my EMP right on the ground. Sponge decides he wants to walk over it so that he can have an excuse to yell at me, and sure enough... it takes out the majority of our guys on the floor. Kudos to me.
Luckily we have whore and sub, who, unlike the rest of us (namely, myself), don't suck and they keep a flag from leaving the base during that fiasco.
The whole time Sin and my sg's were battling it out for the kills. Mine has a longer penis and thus, quicker reflexes, so mine eventually won the competition. Sponge makes some fantastic saves on the fast-moving dR offense while sid never shuts up in the yard calling out incomings and saving the day!
Meanwhile the nLv O, now consisting of fury, metallix and funk, is chugging away slowly. They keep making pulls but then the dR D keeps making returns. Can't blame em though... 3 O on this is tough. I save myself some embarassment and decide to dedicate myself to D for the majority of the round - save for a few O runs, which I won't discuss :[
Eventually the score's at 4-1, with dR in the lead and we are shaking in our shoes thinking we might have to go into overtime if we don't pick up the pace. So... that's just what we do.
As usual, I do something incredibly amazingly awesome and save the day. Our stellar O pulls in another cap and despite me EMP'ing myself, my sg, sponge, his pipes and sub - we make a miraculous hold on a flag in our main entrance and seal the deal.
dR comes strong but doesn't leave with enough to take the game in their favor.
Rd2 Offense: met, funk, fury (supposedly me, as well, but I suck)
Rd2 Defense: sponge, sid, sub, whore, me, sin
Rd2 Score: 2-4 dR!
Final
-----
As I said before there was a lot of tension in our ranks about this team as we came into this match. Despite Sub dropping and my sucking, we pulled together and really dished it out both rounds. Fury, met and funk deserve some compliments for running against the damn-near impossible blue base with only 3 Offense and still keeping it to a 2 cap deficit for the round.
Sid also, once again, put up with us forcing him to play HW for both rounds, and he serves as blow job too.
I, on the other hand, am well aware of my own greatness, and thus if you would like to compliment me on my awesomeness, I accept PayPal, Visa, and Master Card.
Have to say that we were really wanting to win this one against a team that repeatedly said how good they were at this map and how much they enjoyed it. Aside from the win, it was a spectacularly clean match during both rounds on my end, and a clean match is always a fun one.
A very good game thanks to dR. Despite what they'll tell you, they're very deserving of their reputation and "feared" status.
GG dR!
Final Score: 11-8 nLv!

GG nLv. Good write up too.
Props to the nLv offense who repeatedly made very nice concs to run off with our flag. Not something you expect to see in a bronze match very often =]
It would be nice to get a rematch of this map with you guys, I think with a few minor adjustments, it would have been even closer.
Oh and is that the fury from nS and FV?

yay, I have a following! o_O
King, I'm assuming you're referring to rd1 when you guys were on red. Those concs are really hard to make in the blue base but I figured they were pretty elementary :P
Your guys, particularly your scout in rd2 was making some awesome moves and some really nice pulls as well. If it weren't for our sols who just happened to get him on his way out the batts, he alone would have had at least 3 coast to coasts on us.
Those concs are tough, especially against 2 SG's. Your guys had 'em down rd2, they just seemed to overshoot the flag a bit more often than not :o
As for a rematch... I'm not a huge fan of darkness, but I can't wait to go up against you guys again some time soon on a diff map so that you can whoop us and even up the score. Nothing like a good rivalry these days :]
Eightball: "If and when we play nLv again , and if we can find some way to win, I want Mr_Rage to do our write up :) . Great write up."
What are you talking about? You guys always win! :X

Oh, and in my typing fury, I made the following typo:
"Sid also, once again, put up with us forcing him to play HW for both rounds, and he serves as blow job too."
Contrary to popular belief, sid does not serve as a blow job. The above line should be read as follows:
"Sid also, once again, put up with us forcing him to play HW for both rounds, and he _deserves_ _a_ blow job too."
Thank you.

For archival purposes, it seems I forgot to mention in my writeup that last night we officially bidded (is that a word?) farewell to our beloved Don Chico who felt that in his last days of TFC he would enjoy a little variety in his clan-life.
He's off to bigger and possibly better things but we wish him the best as we wave a tearful goodbye to our beloved don, who we hope to see back among our ranks some day :]
