Writeup:

nLv over 3Q

I don't know if I'll be able to top last week's writeup. Everyone seemed to like it, and now the pressure's too much.

gg 3Q!

HA! And you thought I had better things to do with my time than write 10 page writeups? THINK AGAIN! WRITEUP COMMENCE!

We've never played 3Q before, and I like making new friends in TFC, since I can't make any in RL because of my down's syndrome.... anyways. We meet up in IRC around matchtime. Metallix and I find that we have a strange bug where we can't see any entities in any maps on nLv's server! After much troubleshooting, we decide that it's actually the server's fault, and start yelling at shade. Soon enough things were fixed and we were happy again.

Round 1
-------
3Q is prompt and after one prematch we're ready to start things up. Then, shade, who hasn't played in a few weeks, and is coincidentally our server admin, accidentally BAN IP's himself from his own server [POTW, imo]. With 1 minute left on PM, we have to restart. Shade troubleshoots the unban command, and a few minutes later he's back in, and we get started.

Both teams start off pretty strong. The nLv D takes a bit to settle into their shoes, and 3Q keeps things pretty tight for the first short stretch. The O quickly figures out what has to be done, and the beginning of this round sees us with a flury of caps, relays and more caps. 3Q changes their D up probably 3 or 4 times but nothing seems to have much of a positive effect this round. nLv O barrels down the spiral, tumbles clumsily down the elevator, and skips their merry way into and out of the 3Q flag room.

Possibly their most fatal mistake of rd1 [which, ironically didn't happen rd2], 3Q gets rid of their engy and teleporter, and gives us free roam of their FR. They also don't have much RR D to call things out, giving us the run of the house. About halfway through the round, nLv hits a cold spot. We're up by a decent margin, but nothing spectacular yet. Meanwhile the nLv D has figured things out as well, and is peeing in the butts of the 3Q O. They keep pulling flags, but we keep returning. Shade never shuts up calling out incomings, and I just about drill out my own ear drums just to shut him up. IT should be noted that I'm against in-game muting...

All of these returns give us some slack on O until we catch our second wind. The 3Q D now consists of 4 soldiers, with a lot in the spiral. The spam doesn't treat them well, and they end up going down a lot. One of their sols mows through 3 out of our 4 offense in the span of about 4 seconds, which was quite awesome.

Our egos crushed, we do the only thing we can do to dig ourselves out of our self-mutilating depression: cap more! The round comes to a close with another capping spree by the nLv O, and leaves us with some very nice cushion to go into rd2 with.

Rd1 Offense: met, sid, me, funk
Rd1 Defense: sub, sin, sponge, shade
Rd1 Score: 140-60 nLv!

Round 2
-------
Sadly, I'm going to have to cut this short, as some friends just arrived (just kidding, it's time to watch porn... I have no friends).

Rd2 we make some changes on O. The D stays the same. The D improves. Hoobajoo starts OvO'ing and I make sure that the 3Q Offense knows it. Once that subsides, it's an equally clean and great round as rd1.

3Q tightens up their D (or we slack up our O... one or the other), and does some damage by running an HW. They take the lead in rd2 until the last 10 seconds when we pull out a tie.

I'd like to write more about rd2, because it was really well played on both sides, and you could tell 3Q had the gears turning during the break from rd1. Perhaps at a later time when I don't have to leave so soon.

Very well played rd2, 3Q!

Rd2 Offense: rebs, me, funk, sid
Rd2 Defense: sin, sub, shade, sponge
Rd2 Score: 40-40 tie!

Final
-----
Very enjoyable game. I'm getting bad vibes thinking that I might actually be getting used to clean games like these... I know they can't last forever. Great bunch of guys over at 3Q and they proved to be very stiff competition in rd2.

Awesome game, was a pleasure!

Final Score: 180-100 nLv!

Ya, our D had a tough time of it in rd1 trying to change things up to stop your O. We changed things up during the break and it seemed to work well in rd2. Too bad we hadn't thought of that strat for rd1 - doh! I have to say that this map seems perfect for 8v8 - great choice TFL! GG nLv
