Writeup:

nLv over dR

Last day of classes, and cinco de mayo. Nothing better than using another culture's holidays as an excuse to get drunk. So, this might be a bit short... then again, I haven't done a writeup in a while, so we'll see where the current takes me :]

Last time we played dR was on Darkness, I believe, and I believe nLv took that one, but I don't have the results in front of me.

As I've said before, I think dR's one of the stronger clans in STA Bronze and TFL 2a. They've got the guys to get the job done, but something hasn't been clicking from the looks of it.

A bit before we get started, they inform me that they only have 7. Since we've been known to bitch about clans *cough* [NS] *cough* being retarded and not letting us use unrostered members, we decided it was the right thing to do to cut them some slack.

Round 1
-------
We follow Sid's yellow brick road of pure faggotry into dR's server. It's a nice server. To my dismay, dR's got 9, and it ends up being nLv that needs the restart. We picked up a few friends and companions over the last week to help us get 9 players showing up more consistently, and tonight we got to taste the fruits of our labor.

We had like 30 people here and ready to play and for the first time, we needed a restart because we had too many people, instead of too few!

We finalize our strat and seem pretty happy with it, and the round starts. Things are a little slow at first. Our scout rush doesn't do much. Within the first couple of minutes though, we're out with our first of what would become many caps.

dR has a similar D strat to ours, with the exception being a Sol at the bottom stairs instead of a demo. nLv O hits low to start, but they end up tightening up down there, and we shift to attacking high. Up high we end up making a lot more pulls, coast-to-coasts and relays on dR's D. They end up running an O engy who puts up a 3rd SG in the RR. Doesn't do much good for them though.

I'm told it was dR's HW that started pushing to our side first. I'm not sure who casteth the first stone, but I know sponge is without sin. Sponge retalliates and makes sure the dR O feels his wrath in the yard(s), and even once or twice in the dR flag room. The battling HW's proves too much for weak little rage, and I end up going low a lot more often, and doing very little of consequence.

Our D is as solid as I've ever seen it. Our newcomers, Germ and Psi got spots on D to test their wings, and they did quite well. About 10-15 minutes in, dR pulls their first flag and gets a point or two. They total 3 points in the round, which doesn't quite do teh job when held up to nLv's 89.

I do very little, and spend most of my time trying to see if I can conc out of the pit (apparently, I cannot). Sid really sucks, and there's not much to say about him. Metallix had heartburn and exploded. And fury was pretty.

Rd1 Offense: met, me, fury, sid
Rd1 Defense: sponge, germ, psi, sub, ber
Rd1 Score: 89-3 nLv!

Round 2
-------
We make a lot of changes and so does dR. We hold out and so do they. Rd2 ends 0-0.

Rd1 Offense: no one good (aka, sid)
Rd2 Offense: no one good (aka, sid - he also played D)
Rd2 Score: 0-0 nLv!

Final
-----
I was sensing a little hostility coming back into IRC from rd1. Not sure what it was all about. From my eyes it was a pretty clean game. Didn't get OvO'd at all, except maybe by mistake. All I can think of is maybe they were a little sore about Sponge doing a bit better at pushing back than they had expected.

Saw a few of them joining #tfleague... don't know why. I guess I'll find out in due time.

dR had a bunch of new guys playing in their rotation, and it's just a matter of tiem until they gel together and get back into the swing of things.

gl and gg!

Final Score: 89-3 nLv!

appreciate the kind words, but you do have it backwards. sponge was playing in the middle of the map starting at the beginning of the round. we sent our hw to try to get him out of the way. i know this because i started yelling at our hw to get in there and clear him out.

that is insufficient evidence, perhaps your hw was far inferior and every time you saw him he was just respawning and you were like "omgzgg nLv"

well, middle of the map doesn't define a pushing HW in the first place. crossover2 has HW's on the bridge all the time.... it's bridge/yard D, not a pushing HW :]

in this particular case, yes, middle of the map is pushing. it is a major choke point which is not in fact in or near your base. most hws on xo2 also push forward, so really that analogy works to my advantage, not yours. i dont want to argue. i was just correcting your write-up minorly. no need to get so defensive.

stas, you're wrong. Middle of the map is NOT pushing, it's defending the middle of the map. Simply because "most hws on xo2 push forward" doesn't mean that it's the case, especially when everyone's agreed that it was in the MIDDLE, no more. The analogy has nothing to do with whether he pushed or not, it has to do with where he played. btw you're wrong.

Vampire is sore at us for some reason.... some day I will have internet again and actually play... then I can rape Vampire.... and he'll like it
