nLv over ViBig

Tonight was our first night back in 3a in a good long while. We went inactive in TFL 2a a long time ago due to roster problems, and generally not being able to compete with most of the 2a talent.

Finally people started showing up again and playing, so we decided to come back to 2a. 3 horrible losses later, we decided that for the time being 3a might be the better place for us. We get the pleasure of playing ViBig in our first match back in 3a, and they've always been cool in my book.

We got spanked by SIN last week, due to an insanely cool rd2 strat that they used on us, which, unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to test out agaisnt ViBig tonight.

Round 1

Off to nLv's server we go. A few nLv'ers take the bench rd1, including ken and sub, who both returned tonight from a long period of awayness, doing god only knows what.

Rd1 sees the nLv O with a ton of movement, making the ViBig FR our own, and sitting down behind their flag for tea and crumpets, while waiting for the relay.

ViBig makes a few good returns, and some hella good saves peppered in the middle of the round, but for the most part, it was just constant movement on the offensive side.

ViBig drops a player about halfway through the round, so we have a player idle until he comes back a min or two later.

The nLv D has the FR in lockdown, while ViBig struggles to make touches, and especially make caps. ViBig pulls their first flag about 20 minutes in, and it's a hard-fought one that they finally get home. Their 2nd one comes with a few minutes left on the clock.

Defense performs quite well, although, once again, people were unsure of where they were supposed to play. Come on guys - 5 or 6 years of TFC... you should know the most common Darkness Soldier spots !

A ViBig sniper puts our yard HW in check for a short while, but eventually ied just moves to the middle to counteract him.

Round ends with nLv up by a lot.

Round 2

Back in IRC, ViBig tells me a few of their guys had to go and that they're struggling to get 9 for rd2. We offer to loan them a few, but they end up fielding 9 anyways and rd2 gets started shortly thereafter.

We make a few changes for rd2, and opt not to run SIN's mega 6 D strat, just for the sake of having a more enjoyable game on both sides (hopefully). I end up getting stuck with yard HW, and actually do ok, if only for the fact that I only got conced a handful of times.

ViBig's sniper does a good job of keeping me in check, but eventually we send a sniper of our own to the middle batts to help me keep their sniper in their base, and at the same time, get some easier shots at their O. Wasn't my intention to play D in your yard, but when you run a sniper against a yard HW, that's kind of all there is to do :[

Offense is terrible this round. Germ misses like 7 consecutive concs to our capture point, and I let him know of my disappointment by killing me in a variety of ways.

Eventually Earl says Dispute for some reason - I'm still not sure what that was about, and drops from the server a couple of minutes later. I idle in our respawn for a while, assuming he'll make a return. Then another ViBig drops, and at this point the game is just kinda... bleh.

I roam around idling my depleted AC, but ViBig can't see that I just want a hug, and kill me anyawys. Round 2 dwindles down; nLv still can't conc to the capture point (although admittedly, I missed a drop conc in rd1, too), and D is mostly running O or playing in the yard out of sheer boredom.

I'm not sure what we were expecting out of an occasionally 7v9, 8v9, and rarely 9v9 round, but I still had a pretty fun time.

GG to ViBig for keeping things clean, fun and flame-free (aside from the Dispute which might have been a joke. I dunno...)

Sorry things seemed pretty lopsided, ViBig. Although red is a much tougher side to D on, so maybe that explains a little. Still had a fun game. Usually can't find cleanliness in 2a, so thanks!
