Writeup:

nLv over 3Q

one thing i've always regretted was that nLv hasn't gotten paired up against 3Q more often. We've only played them once, and that was back in March, and that makes me angry, and tonight gave me good justification.

I had never played roasted_l before, so I spent a little bit getting used to the map before remembering that I still had like 30 hours before matchtime, thanks to DST or whatever.

Anyways... after many painful hours of torture, skull finally gives me their server info and we head in, just barely scraping up 8 players.

Round 1
-------
3Q tells us they're gonna be playing short for rd1, so we decide to make things a little more fun and I get to play HW. What a mistake that was. But luckily enough for me, it seems that 9 out of every 10 O players that comes into our base, come in through the water and just totally let Sub have it. He performs very well, and the only guys that end up doing any real damage are the pesky 3Q spies.

They pull out their fair share of flags before we make some adjustments (with the lead, mind you), and hold out much better for the duration.

I don't like playing D because I don't get to see much of what goes on elsewhere in the map, but our O kept a pretty steady pace against 3Q's D.

Tempest switches from teh engy spot about halfway through to play Demo, and I end up falling back to the FR'ish... or something.

So 3Q forces us to tuck our tails between our legs and leave the server, knowing that we almost lost rd1 playing 8v7!

Rd1 Offense: fury, shake, ar6, ied
Rd1 Defense: me, sub, equ, tempest
Rd1 Score: 90-60 nLv!

Round 2
-------
So we take our time in IRC trying to decide what we're gonna do to turn this into a 7 game streak, if 3Q has 8 in rd2. We end up bringing ied back to Defense, and sending Tempest to play O. Shake got the short end of the stick, and I apologize. Heretoforth, ye shall never be benched for the likes of tempest!

3Q starts out strong this time, and they get a 2 cap lead on us before we show any signs of life. My SG's average shelf life is about 12 seconds, and they're just coming in from all over the place. ied and equinox end up switching around hither and thither, and FINALLY we get our footing and hold them pretty well for the remainder.

Even though they dominated our FR on more than one occasion, they didn't get very significant movement on it except for about 7 times (get it?).

So 3Q really puts up a great fight and has things neck and neck for about half of this round before our O shifts into gear and does some major damage. We pull to a gradual lead, and the lead just keeps getting bigger.

Fru gets a mid-air knife on one of the 3Q flag carriers, which I hope to see in the next POTW.

Rd2 ends with us in the lead, sealing the deal on the win!

Rd2 Offense: tempest, ar6, fury, fru
Rd2 Defense: ied, sub, equ, me
Rd2 Score: 130-70 nLv!

Final
-----
Aside from a little mm1, this was a really clean game as far as I could tell. Both sides fought really hard to take those early leads, but it always ended up with nlv coming out on top in the end.

And even better, no Vand breathing down my neck this week for demos! This calls for champagne.

Great game 3Q, hope it's not the last!

Final Score: 220-130 nLv!
