Writeup:
nLv over uC
nLv goes into it's 300+ matches with a greater than 50% winning percentage!
Tonight we faced off against uC, who've had a rough couple of weeks back, but we expected would ravage us like vietnamese infants. And they came pretty damn close. Since we figured we wouldn't be able to field 10 players, we agreed to play something more traditional, and settled on ss_nyx_ectfc as the middle-ground.
We get a solid practice in, and have a whole ton of people show up to play. Kudos to those players who volunteered to sit tonight -- I know I wouldn't have. We get a lineup set using our traditional ss_nyx strat that has done pretty well in the past, and head into uC's server.
Round 1
-------
In uC's server, apparently I'm the only one on our end who is pleased with his ping. But F the rest. nLv gets the first touch, but that's about all we get the credit for. uC makes the first real pull and caps the first flag.
We find ourselves down 20-0 before we're able to answer back. Not being on offense, I can't say what did it for us, but we got a second wind and started a come-back. Soon it was 20-10, when (I think) uC gets a 5 minute hold cuz our O (but mostly sid) was terrible.
Then there's a big gray area where I think we may have capped another one. And apparently we also had a 5 minute hold of our own, thanks to Ber's swiftness with his dispenser.
Our O (but probably not sid) starts to run the O engy to make some holes from the RR. I think it works, but I don't remember what the scores were at the time, or if we got a cap as a result. Either way, sid sucks.
The game-defining moment comes with only a few minutes remaining in the round. uC makes a pull and fights their way out of our base. The flag gets dropped a lot, but they keep edging it out. They move it to the yard where we continue to defend it for all we're worth.
I get bored and resigned to my fate, and go to reset my SG in the FR, when I hear something about "pit." My heart jumps with glee as I run to the yard to see everyone standing slack-jawed, gazing into the pit, wondering if the flag will pop back out.
As it turns out, it stays down, and we manage to return what would have been the game winning cap!
Rd1 Offense: sid, fury, wl, shake
Rd1 Defense: ber, ied, whore, fru, me
Rd1 Score: 25-25 tie!
Round 2
-------
So I hear a few moans about uC's server and we decide to rd2 in ours. Little did we know that our HLTV's broken, so thus begins the trek to find someone else to host it for us, so that we don't have to go back to uC's. Goos is kind enough to give his a shot, but luckily Forn steps up to the plate and hosts it for us instead.
Rd2 starts off similar to rd1. nLv makes the first touch, but I don't think we managed to cap it. Meanwhile uC is hitting the pack a lot harder this time (or maybe it's just because I was playing in the FR and noticed it more), and manage to make some good runs, but with little progress.
shake plays pippin to my merry (sp?) and builds his SG where mine was in rd1, but switching sides a little more, and doing an arguably much better job. Props to Fru and Whore for taking the tough job of sol'ing on this map and making shake and myself look good, while ied sits around eating cheesy poofs.
shake makes a few nice dets to save some flags, as do i, and while uC gets a lot of movement, they only manage to take 1 home all the way. On the O side of things, nLv's touches are few and far between. We go on the brink of giving uC another 5 points on several occasions, but manage to get some miracle touches to save the day.
uC gets one flag dangerously close to the RR, and we manage to save it somehow. Chances are I did something amazing... and sid didn't.
Either way, thanks to our D's efforts, we gain a 5 point lead for the round, which ends up sealing the deal in our favor.
Rd2 Offense: sid, fury, tempest, sponge
Rd2 Defense: shake, ied, fru, whore, me
Rd2 Score: 15-10 nLv!
Final
-----
Our first match in Silver turns out to be a great one, which is more than we can say about our bump up in TFL. Classy group all the way, and they gave us a great match.
Thanks to Forn for running HLTV again, and congrats to nLv on it's 300th match :)
Final Score: 40-35 nLv!

Unfortunately, with the automation of pulling STA matches into the KSE system, if the proper map is not on record beforehand, it will post the matches with the previous map instead. I have gone back through and edited the map for each every match record.
