Writeup:

nLv over 3Q

The lenght of this writeup will hardly do this match justice. I don't think it's been that long since we last played 3Q, but it's been a hell of a long time since we've had such a great and close (and clean) match!

Rd1 3Q are nice and wait for us to try to field a playable team. Tonight a good # of our players had RL issues and we sat at 9:00 with only 6 players. Ber manages to force-feed power into his graphics card, and Nom shows up in the nick of tiem to get us 8. We enter the live prematch at 9:15 on the dot.

Round 1
-------
I seem to be the only one of our offense who thought that thierry was a monster of a soldier. But then again, I'm not too solid of an O/D/Anything player, myself. We run 3 O in rd1, and decide that the only way we have a shot at pulling through this is to run a full D. It's cap for cap, for the most part, with nLv usually either up by 1 or tied with 3Q.

The match closes in our favor, but just barely. Nonetheless, we're ridiculously optimistic about rd2, since we hope to have 9 players.

Rd1 Offense: sid, ar6, me
Rd1 Defense: ber, nomad, equinox, tempest, shake
Rd1 Score: 90-80 nLv!

Round 2
-------
We manage to wrangle in ShortFuse as our 9th player, despite his approximately 2-3 month break from playing with us. As rd2 starts, we realize it won't be quite as easy as we had hoped. 3Q takes command of this round pretty quickly, and the tides are turned from rd1, with nLv on the losing end.

Mid-round 3Q gets a flurry going, and take a 2 or 3 cap lead on us, leaving everyone feeling rather sad. Their D also manages to stop any capping on our end for what seemed 5-10 minutes! Finally we clear things out, end our drought, and begin our spree.

With ar6 spamming engy, me waddling around picking my bum, shortfuse selling prescriptions on ebay, and sid running the flag, we get 4 caps in the waning minutes of the round. 3Q answers back keeping themselves always within winning distance.

With about 1 minute left 3Q takes the lead by a cap and we're shaking, worrying that we might have an OT on our hands... when.... !! ar6 sends a nicely place EMP up towards their pot and clears everything out for yours truly to waltz in and get the cap. We think we're safe with only about 30-45 seconds left on the clock, when out of nowhere shortfuse brings another one home feor us, giving us the lead.

At that point it's a statistical improbability that 3Q will catch up, and they manage to snare the round tieing (tying?) cap against a fairly relieved nLv team.

Rd2 Offense: ar6, sid, shortfuse, me
Rd2 Defense: ber, tempest, shake, equ, nomad
Rd2 Score: 120-120 tie!

Final
-----
So this concludes the short writeup that I promised you guys. A really intense, clean and fun match, and a total pleasure, considering we almost didn't even get to play!

vgg guys, and see you next time

Final Score: 210-200 nLv!
