Word on the street has it that SoCal doesn't like Tempest_r2 any more than we do, although after a couple weeks of it we started to kinda get the hang of it. I'd like to start this writeup off by pointing out that if you look in the dictionary under "sportsmanship", you will see.... well... a bunch of words... but let's pretend that when you squint your eyes just right and stick some garlic up your nose that it says "SoCal" all fuzzy like where the word "sportsmanship" is :) Rd 1 started after the usual "just a miiiinnnuttee"'s from both sides, followed by the "ready?" "Ready" "you ready?" "ready" "ok" "fine" "ready?" "YES" business... our practice paid off and we found a good route the flagroom and started zooming along it in a wiggly line like ants after a piece of moldy peach. Our defense built 5 sgs in the rr and fortunately SoCal didn't take the water... er... no wait that was during one of the serveral restarts etc. :p OH AND ACTUALLY THAT WAS BEFORE ROUND2 SORRY... err anyway our d kept SoCal out for a while, although eventually our water guy dropped and that turned into a goodtoehold for their offense. Even after Larcain came back they managed to give our D a nice workout till the end of the round, working a couple flags out. But the ants came marching 4 by 4 hurrah... hurrah. Score for this round was 126 -32 for /tmp. Rd 2 was to be on SoCal's server, but gremlins had pooped on the configs so after a short period of fiddling we went back to our server, where we have a moderate ping advantage. It was at this point that SoCal's already commendable sportsmanship really came into play, as not only did they play a second round on our server without fussing, they did so with only 7 players. Final score 168 - 17 , even down 2 they did some capping. Special mentions go to: the SoCal scout who turned me on to the fun of freestyle scout jumps in the rr, everyone who volunteered to sit one round so others could play (Cari, Strife, Larc), Panther for running such a cool crew, GoodSon for being #2 two rounds running (woot), Tinky for playing D when he'd helped so much with getting O working right, and of course due to contractual obligation I must mention that Beck stabbed more people than is at all polite... fortuneatly all defenders this time :) Final score 290-49, vgg SoCal , next time hopefully on a happier map. --/tmp/Thuggee Ali
