404 Writeup:
Tonight 404 had the pleasure of facing off vs RES on 2mesa3. The match took some time to get going unfortunately, due to one of our guys being banned, which in the end resulted in me playing on O. Anyways getting to the rounds.
Round 1 We started off on RES's server, where our player was banned. After a long wait we moved one of our D guys to O and got the round started. 404 and RES both tried unsuccessful rushes. For quite a while both Ds were settled in, fragging away at the oncoming O. RES's flag room D proved to be too much for the 404 O medics to get through, but 404 was able to sneak their super spy, Cablooie, into the FR and get down a few flags. Most of the flags that were gotten down by Cablooie were capped by the medic trio, Fish, Abs "I am large and invincible god of D&D" Inthe, and Eucke's Warren. RES was able to get some movement, but Ice "MY DISPENSER IS JUICED" Man was able to hold them off, with the backup of QB0rt, Dosepawk, Kabal, and His "omg that's huge!" Johnson. RES did manage to get one cap out, leaving them behind at the end of round 1, 6-1.
Round 2 Now on 404's server. This round started off with a scout rush by both teams, but RES went all out and sent (I think, or at least it felt that way) another guy on O. On the rush they had movement and eventually got the flag out (a very nice rush, very few I have seen work against almost any D). 404 was a little slower to start, getting some movement eventually and although trailing RES for a bit, finally caught up after a few minutes. Then it was pretty much both O's hammering away at both D's, and both teams had good results. 404 sent its same O and RES sent a slightly altered O to bring the flags down. 404 was able to slow down flags just a little bit better than RES was, which wound up being the key factor since both teams got a ton of touches. Round 2 ends 14-7 in favor of 404.
Total: 20-8
Honestly it didn't feel like such a difference in score in game. RES kept us running along, never giving us a period of rest, especially during round 2. It was a great, clean (ie no chasing) game and I look forward to playing RES again. GL in your future games, I know you guys will do great.
